Getting To Cal Poly
- Enter via the Grand Avenue entrance to campus.

Residence Hall
- Quarter Plus students will be living in the yakʔitʸutʸu Housing Complex (172 on Cal Poly Maps). Students will live in the following building: elewexe (172B on Cal Poly Maps).
- There is no air conditioning in the buildings. We recommend you bring a fan.
Move-in Date and Time
- Move-in will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Move-in will be staggered. You are required to move in during your assigned time.
- Group 1 - Last Names A - M - will move-in from 8 -10 a.m.
- Group 2 - Last Names N - Z - will move-in from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
What To Bring
- A government issued ID such as a valid driver’s license
- Please pack lightly since this is temporary housing for the first three weeks of Quarter Plus only, and you will be moving to your fall housing assignment on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
- Please review Residence Halls: What to Bring List (pdf).
- Your parents and supporters will be able to mail items to you during the Quarter Plus program. Visit Student Mail for more information.
- Bring water and sunscreen for the move-in!
Parking
- Parking for Quarter Plus move-in will be in the Structure 131 on levels 3 and 4.

Use Quarter Plus PayByPhone for free move-in day parking.
- Enter your license plate number and state, on the next page use code QPLUS2024 to register for free paring.
- After you park, please leave your personal items in the vehicle, and walk over to the yakʔitʸutʸu Residence Hall community room (172H-144 on Cal Poly map) to get your University Housing key and check-in with Quarter Plus
Check-in
- Check-in with Quarter Plus and University Housing will be in the yakʔitʸutʸu Residence Hall community room (172H on Cal Poly Maps).
- Be sure to bring a government-issued ID such as a valid driver’s license.
- Quarter Plus Resident Advisors will check you in and give you your access card which will provide you access to the building and your room, as well as your PolyCard and your two free lunch passes for move-in day. Your Quarter Plus Welcome Bag, which contains your Quarter Plus t-shirt, bucket hat and tote bag will be in your residence hall room.
Move-in Reminders
- After checking in with Quarter Plus and Housing staff, you will find a green cart to help you move your items on the 3rd and 4th levels of the yakʔitʸutʸu Parking Structure (Structure 131).
- Please return cart to original location after use.
- There will be learning assistants along the way to guide and help you.
- You’ll need to always have your access card and room key with you to get into your building and bedroom.

Quarter Plus Textbooks
- The Mustang Shop in the University Union (UU) will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. After you have moved in, feel free to pick up any reserved textbooks or materials you may need.
Lunch
- Lunch will be available on the 2nd floor of the Vista Grande Dining Complex (112 on Cal Poly Maps) between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will be a wide variety of food platforms available.
- All students will receive two free dining passes for lunch at Vista Grande.
Guided Campus Tour
- Guided campus tours will be offered from 3:30-4:30 p.m. led by campus tour ambassadors. Tours will start at the McPhee University Union, Chumash Auditorium (65 on Cal Poly Maps).
Welcome Event & Resource Fair
- There will be a welcome event from 2-4 p.m. for you and your parents/supporters in the McPhee University Union, Chumash Auditorium (65 on Cal Poly Maps). There will be representatives from campus partners to answer questions you and your parents/supporters may have.
Dinner
- Dinner will be from 5-7 p.m. Students are welcome to have dinner with their parents/supporters or have dinner at Vista Grande with other students, using their PolyCard.
Quarter Plus Community Meeting
- All Quarter Plus students are required to attend an in-person Community Meeting from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the common room on their floor led by the Quarter Plus Resident Advisor assigned to each floor.
- Parents/supporters must say their goodbyes before 7:30 p.m.
